My fellow Patriots, Patriots, what can we do? Christians, what can we do? Founding Father John Adams said: "Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right, from the frame of their nature, to knowledge, as their great Creator, who does nothing in vain, has given them understandings, and a desire to know; but besides this, they have a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge; I mean, of the characters and conduct of their rulers." Basically John Adams is saying that liberty only exists because of God. Now Christian critics of our Founding Fathers will say that John Adams was talking about God in the general sense without specifying which god he is talking about. Now with a very basic knowledge of John Adams, people would understand that John Adams was a devote Christian, so clearly he is talking about knowledge of Yahweh (the God of the Bible).
